With The Kestrel still recovering an oxygen levels restabilizing, they find themselves at a small re-fueling post.

Lt. Vanguard and Ens. Mac return to their posts as soon as the engine repairs are finalized.

Ens. McAliber: Captain, my scanners are picking up an upgraded version of the ship that we just destroyed at the last beacon. It is an Auto-Assault drone.

Lt. Vanguard: The good news, Captain, is that I beleive that it's weapon's are insufficient to get through our shields.

Capt. Antony: Thank-you, gentlemen. I'm going in to attack it before it destroys that re-fueling outpost.

The Kestrel swoops in to intervene and defend the outpost.

Holo. Doc. Aki: Captain, I feel it is my duty to point out that the injured crew do need to report for treatment, at the first available opportunity.

The autmated ship moves away from the re-fueling outpost and engages The Kestrel.

Ens. McAliber: Captain, I will paint a target on the enemy, and then head to the med-bay for healing.

With the Auto-Assault's drone's inability to harm The Kestrel, the crew heal and return to their stations

Lt. Vanguard: Captain, might I suggest something during this rare opportunity?

Capt. Antony: Yes, Lt. Vanguard?

Lt. Vanguard: I could use this opportunity to attune our new level 2 shiled properly.

Lt. Vanguard: We would not suffer any damage as long as that drone's heavy laser does not hit in sync with their beam weapon...and that is, fo course, assuming that their heavy laser does not miss.

Capt. Antony: Lt. Vanguard, As long as you can assure me that we won't get hit, I am game. I'd feel better, however, if Ens. Mac was in Engines. giving me some extra dodge power just in case.

Ens. McAliber: As long as we have a massive chance of winning, I'm game.

The Kestrel plays cat and mouse with the Auto-Assualt ship as its weapons are rendered useless.

With all the experience at dodging the drone's heavy laser blast, Capt. Antony achieve mastery level at piloting giving him +5 Evasion whenever flying The Kestrel

Lt. Vanguard becomes a master a handling the shield system and also reaches mastery level.

Capt. Antony: Mac, how are you doing back there in Engines?

Ens. McAliber: Cap'n, with all this experience, I believe I am now your man for engines whenever needed. I've got these systems totally mastered back here.

Capt. Antony: OK, Mac...Head back to weapons systems and put this drone out its misery.

Ens. McAliber: With pleasure, Captain.

The Kestrel is hailed by the re-fueling outpost.

Capt. Antony Capt. Antony answers the hail.

Mgr. Tompson: Greetings, federation ship.

Capt. Antony: Greetings! It seemed like that Auto-Assault drone was giving you some trouble.

Mgr. Tompson: I want to thank you for your help back there. Those scouts have really been giving us a hard time lately.

Mgr. Tompson: It seems that even a small supply outpost like ours here is not above their notice.

Capt. Antony: No problem. It was weak against our defenses and we got some badly needed practice.

Mgr. Tompson: Such are the times we live in, I'm afraid.

Mgr. Tompson: You did certainly put on a nice show for us.

Mgr. Tompson: Allow me to introduce myself - I'm the manager of this little facility; you may call me Mr. Tompson

Capt. Antony: We could do with some repairs due to a close run in with a star that we encountered.

Capt. Antony: My name is Captain Antony StarKiller. Nice to mee you.

Mgr. Tompson: Aye, that you could; I can see the scorching from here. However, we are not in a position to oblige you, as do not have the facilities to perform maintenance on anything larger than a shuttle.

Capt. Antony: Do you have a re-fuelling platform available nonetheless?

Capt. Antony: My crew could use a bit of shoreleave.

Mgr. Tompson: Oh, don't misunderstand - I'll not let you leave here without a suitable reward for what you did. Let me go through my manifests and see what I can't put together.

Mgr. Tompson: In the meantime, pull up to docking bay #3; you can stretch your legs while I go through our inventory.

Capt. Antony: [The Kestrel docks with the small-refueling outpost.]

The Kestrel crew leave The Kestrel through the port docking mechanism and enter the small re-fueling outpost.

The crew enter the bar & lounge. It is full of aliens of all types.

Capt. Antony: Ah, space tiddly winks! One of my favorite games!

Capt. Antony approaches a table that has been designated for gambling using ancient artifacts know as tiddly winks.

Capt. Antony: Greetings alien!

Slug Fester: Hello there

Lt. Vangaurd and Ens. McAliber scope out the dive, grab a seat at the bar and order drinks.

Capt. Antony: I haven't played space tiddly winks in forever. What are your payouts?

Slug Fester: Our payouts are 4 to 1, sir.

Capt. Antony: Here is 4 scrap.

Slug Fester: Thank you.

Capt. Antony artfully grabs his tiddly wink implement and places his hand in the zero-gravity tiddly wink chamber.

With careful precision, the first of three tiddly winks is launched.

The tiddly wink richochets off the arena ceiling and falls into the designated cup.

Capt. Antony: Ah-Ha!

Capt. Antony: That's one of three in!

Slug Fester: Bravo, but can you make ALL three?

Capt. Antony fires off a second tiddly wink sending rechocheting between two corners an it too falls into the cup.

Capt. Antony: Nothing to it!

Slug Fester starts to look worried

Capt. Antony: Back on my homeworld, I was tiddly wink state champ!

Slug Fester starts to sweat

Slug Fester: No one has EVER gotten all three in!

Lt. Vanguard, Ens. Mac and other aliens gather around the table holding the anti-grav space tiddly wink arena.

Capt. Antony gingerly takes his tiddly wink launcher and launches the final tiddly wink.

The tiddly wink soars into the arena but this time....

All eyes follow the tiddly wink as it bounces around the chamber

The tiddly wink hits the edge of the cup, circles it several times, and...

(Pleasure Hub) - Your crew pick up a signal broadcast from a nearby pleasure hub. Three-breasted aliens are aplenty.

Capt. Antony is distracted by a three-breasted alien.

The tiddly wink falls into the cup.

[b]Capt. Antony:
Ah-Ha! You tried to distract me!

Capt. Antony: It didn't work! Now pay-up!

Slug Fester pulls out a blaster.

Slug Fester: Make me.

Ens. Mac and Lt. Vanguard already suspecting the alien's ploy poke their blasters into each side of his rib cage

Lt. Vanguard: I would pay the Captain! He won fair and square.

The alien slowly puts his blaster on the table, and puts his hands up.

The bartender, who was carefully watching the proceedings, taps out a few lines into a communication panel.

Ens. McAliber puts his hands into the aliens pockets and grabs a platinum bar worth 16 scrap.

Capt. Antony: We will be on our way.

The Kestrel crew exit the bar and head towards the manager's office.

Alien stutters out a thank you and falls into his chair dejected.

As the Kestrel crew are leaving the bar, they see two Rock security personel making their way towards the cheating alien.

Capt. Antony hits the vidscreen at the door.

Capt. Antony waits for Mananger Tompson to respond.

Rather than appearing on the video screen, Tompson walks around the corner in person, followed by several security droids. The alien that the Rocks are escorting out is pointing wildly at the Kestrel crew.

Mgr. Tompson: Ah, captain, it is good to finally meet you in person.

Mgr. Tompson offers a hand to shake

Capt. Antony shakes hands with Manager Tompson.

Mgr. Tompson: My staff inform me you had some trouble with your game earlier - it is unfortunate, but it does happen.

Mgr. Tompson clearly didn't see that some scrap had changed hands at the end

Mgr. Tompson: However, I do have some good news that might cheer you up instead

Capt. Antony: Yes, that alien tried cheating and then when foiled pulled a blaster on me refusing to pay me what I won.

Mgr. Tompson: If you'd like to follow me...

The Kestrel crew follow Manager Tompson.

Mgr. Tompson leads the crew to a large door marked "Storage Bay #2"

Mgr. Tompson: Before we go inside I will ask that you surrender your blasters to the security droids. Standard precautions when entering our "vault" as I call it.

The Kestrel crew surrender their blasters.

Mgr. Tompson taps out a keycode on the door's pad and the group enters.

Mgr. Tompson leads the crew between rows of crates of various size and manufacture, clearly looking for one in particular on a datapad.

Mgr. Tompson: Ah, here we are now.

Mgr. Tompson: While I do regret that we are unable to help you with repairs, I have managed to... 'misplace' a certain shipment belonging to that cheating piece of scum you had the displeasure of playing against earlier.

Capt. Antony: Oh really?

Mgr. Tompson: Turns out he was smuggling weapons too, on top of everything else.

Capt. Antony: Well they've always said that tiddly winks gambling is a gateway crime to more serious offenses.

Mgr. Tompson: What we have here, though, is a really interesting piece of kit. A laser, but from what I can tell, it's been modified to deal additional damage to ship hulls.

Mgr. Tompson: Just the kind of thing you'd expect a weapons smuggler to be peddling, really.

Ens. McAliber: Very nice!

Mgr. Tompson: I hope this is to your liking; we don't have much more to spare, perhaps a bit of fuel and a missile.

Ens. McAliber walks over to the hull smasher laser and strokes it.

Lt. Vanguard: Captain, this will really help us with conserving our missle supplies.

Capt. Antony: Yes, yes. Very nice indeed.

Capt. Antony: We will accept this misplaced item. Do you have crew that would be able to install it on our ship?

Mgr. Tompson: I will have it delivered to your ship's dock; a quick scan suggests it uses the standard federation weapon mounting system so installation should be easy.

Capt. Antony: Excellent!

Mgr. Tompson: A word of warning though, captain.

Capt. Antony: Yes?

Mgr. Tompson: Using modified weapons like this can put some unexpected strain on your ship's power grid - I'd look into reinforcing the relevant systems and couplings whenever you are able to do so.

Capt. Antony: We will look into doing so as we can spare the resources.

Mgr. Tompson indicates that they should leave his 'vault'.

Ens. McAliber: Captain, for 35 scrap I could integrate this into our weapon's systems.

Lt. Vanguard: But, Mac, would you have enough reactor power to power it?

The Kestrel crew leave the vault and return to their ship while discussing the logistics concerned with powering up this new weapon.

Mgr. Tompson returns to his office and makes the arrangements for delivery of the weapon and other resources.

Ens. McAliber: We can always divert power from Engines.

Ens. McAliber: Especially now that the Captain is a master pilot thanks to his experience with that Auto-Assault drone.

Capt. Antony: Well let's talk about it aboard our ship.

The Kestrel crew settle in while the supplies are being delivered and the new weapon is being installed.

Capt. Antony: Well...there's the exit, but it's deep within the area controlled by the Rebel Fleet.

Mgr. Tompson sends a comm request to the Kestrel as they leave the outpost

Capt. Antony answers the hail.

Mgr. Tompson: I wanted to wish you a safe journey, Captain

Capt. Antony: Thank-you.

Mgr. Tompson: That, and to offer one last word of advice before you leave.

Capt. Antony: Yes?

Mgr. Tompson: Not far from where we are located is a Relic research lab; it is run by one of the coldest, most calculating creatures I have ever met - I would recommend you steer clear of them at all costs. And certainly don't try to play tiddly winks with him, if you do have business there.

Mgr. Tompson: I've heard rumour of people entering a game for 10 scrap and walking away without their ships an hour later...

Capt. Antony: We will certainly steer clear of any such facilities.

Capt. Antony: Thank you for the weapon and the supplies.

Mgr. Tompson: That being said, they do make some amazing stuff. You wouldn't know my bartender was a hologram by looking at him... such is the measures I've had to take after several attempted robberies.

Mgr. Tompson: Good luck, captain.

Mgr. Tompson closes the channel

Capt. Antony raises Lt. Vanguard and Ens. McAliber on the comm.

Capt. Antony: Did you hear that gentlemen?

Capt. Antony: It appears that Admin Tellas was bad news afterall.

The Kestrel crew ponder their close call with misfortune as well as the decisions that lie ahead.

FTLonline is currently inactive until the GM returns (if ever).
For those interested in FTL roleplay I would suggest checking out ODW, which is active and currently running: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=11449
All ships I have created include custom weapons, graphics etc:

Thank-you. It took the talents of many individuals to get this going.
