Nope, SMM is the only manager we have currently, since it works well for everyone.
Generally, if the manager's launcher keeps telling you to download Java, that means there's something wrong on your end. Though it could also be the launcher getting confused by newer versions of Java. It hasn't been updated in years, after all...

So, you can try launching the manager directly, without the wrapper (assuming you're on Windows): download this batch script, place it in the same folder as SMM, and double click on it.
If it launches fine, then that's that, it was just the wrapper being confused for some reason.
However, if it tells you that 'java' command is not recognized or something along those lines, then that means that there actually is a problem on your end with the Java installation.

(just as a sanity check, if the Java installer tells you to restart your PC after the installation process, you should do that; things won't work correctly until you do that)

I am trying to fix an error I have in my Arsenal+ English Translation Attempt mod, but I can't seem to find it.
I have a version of the mod that works fine and one that doesn't which gives me the following error message (this version is more updated)

Here is the error message:

Code: Select all

Patching failed: org.jdom2.JDOMException: While processing "Arsenal+1.20 English-G v0.4.ftl.zip:data/blueprints.xml (wrapped)", strict parsing failed, then sloppy parsing failed: Error on line 3226: At line 3226, column 11: Unexpected characters.

so that means there is a problem at line 3226, column 11. okay so I open up notepad++ and go down to line 3226 in that file and I compare it to the blueprints.xml of the version that works fine and they look the same :|

Am I reading the error message incorrectly? What exactly is meant by line 3226, column 11?

Here are the files. I assume that actually running SMM won't be necessary, just finding the "Unexpected characters". Problem is, like I said, I can't find those characters.

The following links are Mediafire links:
click this for blueprintsgood.xml (this is the version of blueprints.xml that works fine with the rest of the mod)

click this for blueprints.xml (this version is the one that produces the error message. the error message is probably the only thing stopping the mod from working)

looks like you missed the "<" character in a string 9518

Code: Select all

<short>Auto-Beam/short>

ah yes that's it! :) I remember doing something like that and I thought I put that character back. but why does the error log message say line 3226, column 11?

Also, how did you find that?

Hello. I think I need some help.

I have installed FTL on my laptop and want to install the Captains edition of the mod.

I installed the latest Java, SMM and CE. Wanted it to patch in but it gave me errors. I re installed Java and restarted my PC and now SMM wont even open. A fresh FTL and SMM install doesnt seem to help :(

I am using a windows 10 laptop and have been opening the program as admin.

Some advice?

I got this error message while opening it in command prompt.

Error occured during the initialization of VM
java/lang/NoClassdefFoundError: java/lang/Object

Have you tried reinstalling java as well? That's what the problem seems to be with. Maybe give 64-bit version a try, too.

There are several reasons for this, but the most likely is that you downloaded and ran only the 64-bit Java installer. Apparently, Java requires you to download both 32-bit and 64-bit versions, and install them in that order, to make it work correctly (that part's way back from 2014, so it may have changed since then).

Another idea: it could be an issue with Win10's draconian permission policy. You may have executed the Java installer without running it as admin, which caused it to install incompletely.

I have deleted java and reinstalled java 32 bit and 64 bit.

I can open SMM now but now I am getting the following error matching when validating CE and its rescourse pack

@ CE Resource Pack 1.285b.ftl:
----------------------------
! An error occurred. See log for details.

@ FTL Captains Edition 1.285.ftl:

The main CE errors are normal, they shouldn't break anything.

Can you look into the log file (modman-log in the same directory as the file to launch the manager) and copy it here or somewhere? And is the game still refusing to run, or is it just the validate? I don't actually have the most recent CE resource pack at hand, so I'm not sure what could be wrong there. You could just try redownloading for starters if it's having a real problem.
