On Windows, you double-click either "modman_admin.exe" (most likely) or "modman.exe".

If Java has been installed, that exe will know find whichever one it likes.

JRE is the basic runtime needed to run Java apps.
JDK is a copy of JRE, plus developer tools like the compiler.
Either can be used to run stuff.

"java.exe" is how one would explicitly run java against an app (*.jar or *.class file) with a terminal window.
"javaw.exe" is how one would explicitly run java against an app with NO visible terminal window.
The only difference is whether you get to see that window.

Slipstream comes with its own exe's, so you don't need to worry about that.

Often the original author is named or quoted in the response.
Otherwise, it's a matter of reading subsequent posts (within 3 pages) and inferring relevance.

You might redownload the mod in question in case you didn't get the entire file successfully the first time?

In general, it's better to search the thread for key words from the problem rather than a specific user, however.

When I try either of those cmd opens up and closes itself in a split second
But I can kinda read what it is saying

"Error occurred during initialization of VM
java/lang/NoClassDefFoundError: java/lang/object"
or something in the lines of that.

That indicates a problem with Java itself. Reinstalling should fix it.

I searched for the key word zlib, and the only post I found was his. I also wasnt sure if karto's post was relevant because it didnt seem like a crash. I'll try to download them again though, and see what happens from there. Oh, and the mod in question, like isthistaken, is the resources for CE.

Edit: tried re-downloading. Didnt work. I had also tried deleting backups + reinstall, same thing. But everyone's sure that there's nothing wrong with the current download for Captains Edition resources?

Edit 2: Success!... Almost. It turns out that I wasnt patching the redownloaded file, and was instead patching the original  . Now its the endless loot textures but im almost sure another redownload will get that to work!

I reinstalled it and it still didn't work.... :(

Edit: Jarfix really helps!

CE resources is a fairly large file. You could try redownloading it.

I am getting this error while installing FTL Captains edition. I have latest version of SMM. I tried reinstalling the game and also deleting the backup files. But no use. Same error with FTL CE Resource pack. Other mods are installing properly.

Looks like the mod files are busted somehow. Try redownloading them.

so. i have ftl advanced version 1.5.4. i dl 1.6 slipstream. and the command window wont even open long enough for mew to take an image of it. i had it extracted to desktop, than i put it into my ftl folder directly. ive run it as admin and everything. deleted the .baks i reinstalled ftl and slipstream like five times. i did notice in the readme it says ftl version 1.3 something but i have 1.5.4 and there is no newer tool. wtf do i do ripping my hair out as everyone else having problems on here can at least open the damn thing haha

EDIT: ok. found a batch on here that stopped the autoclose. its saying something about java runtime error. but i reinstalled java. anyone?

"Launch4j: The registry refers to a nonexistent Java Runtime Environment installa
tion or the runtime is corrupted.

The system cannot find the path specified.

Press any key to continue . . ."
