This event can only occur in;
Zoltan Controlled Sector and
Zoltan Homeworlds.
As you arrive, you spot a small planet with white clouds surrounding it. One of your crew members points out that this planet is too small to be a gas giant.
1. Attempt to scan the planet...
2. Ignore it.
3. (Long-Ranged Scanners) Scan the planet...
4. (lvl. 3 Sensors) Scan the planet...
5. (Slug Crew) Telepathically scan the planet for life...
6. (Zoltan Crew) Overcharge your sensor system...
1a. You try to scan the planet, but you cannot penetrate the atmosphere. You prepare to move on... (End Event)
2a. The Zoltan hold strict laws that restrict contact with intelligent life and you cannot risk the mission to go exploring, you prepare to move on. (End Event)
2b. You move further away from the planet and turn your attention to the beacon. As you wait for your FTL to charge, you spot multiple plant covered ships studying the beacon. You decide it's best not to disturb them. (End Event)
3 and 4a. Your scans are able to penetrate the thick atmosphere and show a world covered completely by jungle and teeming with an extremely high amount of diverse lifeforms.
5a. Your slug members' eyes glaze over and he seems to enter into a trance-like state, a few minutes goes by as the slug member wakes up from his slumber. "Yesssss, there ssssseemss to be a large quantity of lifeformsssss living on the sssurface of the planet."
6a. Your Zoltan's face turns bright pink as he tries to overcharge the system, you get short glimpses of a jungle covered plane with a diverse set of plant-life. As you look, a huge, overgrown space ship flashes onscreen but immediately disappears! You question if this was just an illusion or if there is really a ship down there. As you're wondering what it could've been, the Zoltan gives in to the huge stress and collapses onto the floor. One of your crew members gets him some water and you carry him to a soft chair. The Zoltan is probably just exhausted.
(3, 4, 5, and 6 all lead to the same options)
1. Try to get close to the planet's surface...
2. Pull out, it's too dangerous. (End Event)
3. (Rock Plating) Get close to the planet's surface...
4. (Titanium System Casing) Get close to the planet's surface...
1a. Your ship starts breaking apart and you're forced to pull out. (3-4 Hull Damage, with fire to a random place/places)
1b. Your ship pushes through the atmosphere with no damage at all, as you sigh in relief, a giant, flying, green whale smashes into your ship. Luckily, your ship took no damage from this strange event.
3a. Your Rock Plating lets you breeze through the atmosphere and arrive to your calculated destination.
4a. Your Titanium System Casing protects your ship from the rough atmosphere as your ship whizzes through the thick clouds.
(1b, 3a, and 4a all have this option)
1. Explore...
1a. You send an away team through the thick canopies and before long, you are greeted by a strange plant species that seems to stare back at you. They look into your eyes and says something that your translator finds easy to translate. "Traveller from stars... aliens... existence known... friend or foe?" You answer friend and the translator answers "Nùnbar." The plant species points to the space shuttle you saw earlier. To your surprise, the plant was never attached to the ground and leads your crew to the overgrown ship.
1. Continue...
1a. There seems many of the talking plants and as you wonder what they're doing, one of them speaks to you "Your language is fascinating, and it is great to meet you alien." Your crew look around and realise that these are a very intelligent race on the verge of FTL space travel. The one who spoke to you earlier points at a screen on the space ship. "We're trying to figure out how to warp space to travel from one place to another. We could use some help.
1. Give them your FTL research data.
2. (Adv. FTL Navigation) Upload everything they need.
1a. It takes a long time for the codes and data to reach the computers abut the plant creatures speak, "Our sincere thanks, information... sufficient!" They present you with different plant and animal species that you've never seen before. They'll probably be worth a lot of scrap, you load them onto your ship.
2a. You upload everything they could possibly need to know to their systems. "Splendid!" You probably saved them months of research from helping them. They present you with different plant and animal species that you've never seen before. They'll probably be worth a lot of scrap, you load them onto your ship.
(1a and 2a both lead to the same options) As you prepare to leave, you ask them a question...
1. "What will you do with the information?"
2. "Do you know about the advancing Rebel Fleet?"
3. "Where are the rest of your people?"
1a. They answer, "We will begin to modify our ships so they can harness and use the massive energy given off of the beacon to explore space." You wave goodbye and are ready to jump to the next beacon. (Reward: High amount of scrap).
2a. They answer, "No, thank you for the information. We were invaded before, we have learned how to defend our planet." As he says this, he points at a huge cannon-like weapon pointed to the sky surrounded by many war ships. "We have countless amounts of these all around the planet." You smile as you realise this planet will not fall into the hands of the rebels. As you wave goodbye and get ready to jump to the next beacon. (High amount of scrap and Rebel Fleet delayed for 3 turns)
3a. They answer, "Our people live on the other side of the planet, we are just a research team." Wishing you had the time to visit the other side you wave goodbye and prepare to jump to the next beacon. (High amount of scrap and a random augment).
