Developer’s log, Stardate 9.14.12: FTL released!

It’s been an amazing few months of beta testing filled with hard work and lots of rebel-destroying fun, but now it’s time for the rest of the world experience FTL!

FTL has just gone on sale!

  • If bought at our website you will receive DRM free versions for Windows, Mac and Linux as well as a Steam key.
  • If purchased at GOG.com you’ll get the Windows DRM-free build and some bonus items.
  • It will be available to purchase on Steam in 6 hours from now.

EDIT:  If you buy it through our website you should receive an email with link.  That link will bring you the the download site.  It will also contain a key for Steam.  To activate the game on Steam use the folloing advice:
After installing and running Steam, open the LIBRARY tab of your Steam window.  In the bottom left there is a button marked “Add a Game”.   Click on it, then click “Activate a product on Steam..”  Follow the prompts and copy your key into the “Product Code” box when asked.  Once you finish downloading the game it should be in your library and you’ll be ready to play!

  4. Would be really cool if you could publish a breakdown of sales data after the first 7 days, maybe comparing backer vs. bought etc.

  6. You know what I would change about this game? The starting scrap, and that’s it. I would set it somewhere between 80-120, so that the first region serves as a kind of “spaceship creation phase” that differs from game to game, but allows you a choice of one or two available “legs up” on the journey.

    It’s ASTOUNDING the difference one or two of the ship augmentations or upgrades can make, and if you don’t get lucky early on, it’s HIGHLY PROBABLE that you’ll be spending all of your scrap on repairs and ammo, never actually powering yourself up.

    Better yet, easy mode = 120, normal mode = 75. That’s the balancer, right there.
