With the start of 2013 you may be wondering what our plans are.  In the upcoming weeks we will be researching potentially bringing FTL to the tablets.  I can’t promise we will fully pursue the port; this is just a ‘test the water’ kind of period.

We have also finished packing and sending the majority of the limited edition Kickstarter posters and are moving onto the other rewards.  The art book is nearly done and I’ll start to work on the instruction manual soon.  I realize that non-backers are interested in these items as well, so we will be looking for ways to enable  you to purchase the PDF’s and potentially posters and other merchandise.

We also intend to be giving a postmortem at this year’s GDC in the Independent Summit.

All this will keep us pretty busy in the coming days.

FTL was just nominated for IGN’s game of the year award!

Matt just got finished with his Post Mortem at GDC China.  In it, he talked about the inspirations for FTL, the development process and our experiences with Kickstarter.  I (justin) was unfortunately unable to attend, but it was apparently well received.

In other news, the folks at Board Game Geek announced FTL as their “2012 Best Indie Game” during their Golden Geek Awards.  We are honored since FTL was heavily inspired by board games and we are frequent users of their site.

Also the Indie Game Magazine is running their Game of the Year 2012 players choice awards.   FTL has been nominated for Best Computer Game and the Game of the Year.   Be sure to follow the link and voice your own opinion!  There were a lot of great indie games this year.

With the game fully out the door and a lot of the post-release event flurry over with, we’ve been back trying to finish off the last of the Kickstarter rewards.  First to come will be the PDF art book, I’d say it’s about 50% done right now.  Since a number of people have expressed interest in it, we’ll see if there’s a way to let others get a copy as well without alienating the original backers.

In other news I am finally working on the last Kickstarter rewards: First the Artbook PDF (it’s about 50% done right now); after that we’ll start working on the old-style instruction manual.   We’ll also look into some method to let it be accessible to non-Kickstarter people (since others have shown interest in buying them) but we’ll try and figure out something that’s fair for the backers.   I’ll share some images soon, now go vote!
